DLD was crazy. The night before, morning of, actual event, and night of were all fun. And there was a metal show also.

It's only a bit over 2hrs to Portsmouth for Kate The Great, but 3hrs in line...ehhh not something I'd do. Been to PB a few times (kinda mandatory for Beer geeks) great place with cool history, beer and feedbag.

DLD, sounds a lot more like a show as far as production value goes. Crowds aren't really my thing anymore though.

Well as far as waiting in line, The "A" line for DLD was really like a long thin beer tasting party. So it was a lot if fun. But the C line was a mess. The C line did have the advantage of us being able to go buy beers and food inside the brewery while we waited though. Portsmith was really just a waiting game since the city wasn't going to let people drink in public.

Darkness Day at Surly is kind of a mix. Police are patient, but there's not as much open sharing like there was at DLD. And you arent guaranteed anything 'cause you don't have tickets.

Thanks for the info, DLD sounds much cooler then.

I think I read that Kate is no more, so I guess it's moot .

Kate may or may not happen. Todd, the brewer, owns the recipe and is taking it with him. Portsmith Brewery owns the name and could try to recreate it. So either it will likely come back with a new name at Todd's new brewery, or there will be a clone with the same name at Portsmith.

I suppose you're right, it's no different than a chef.
