Default Rogue's Voodoo Doughnut Bacon Maple Ale

So, I see it got quite a few mentions in the worst beer ever tasted thread, but it's got a pretty epic level of bad that I thought deserved its own thread.

I have to say, between Voodoo's reputation for doughnuts and the flavors listed, I thought this would be good.... DAMN good.

I won't say it was the worst beer I ever tasted, but it was in the bottom 10, maybe even 5.

In talking about it with some friends, though, we did think there may be a redeeming quality. We thought that maybe it would make a decent marinade for cooking. Anyone ever try it for that?

Or, does anyone actually like it?

It just looked/sounded appauling, so I never gave it a second thought.
I will take a Voodoo donut though. It only takes one of their donuts to make a meal!

I tried it with some friends and it was really just a beer made, to say it was made. I do agree, it may be decent beer for a marinade. Maybe some ribs or even BBQ smoked chicken.

Every year, my buddy has a Christmas Eve party and his wife makes a RIDICULOUS spread. She usually does a crockpot each of pulled pork and roast beef. Sometimes one is BBQ. We talked about maybe trying this beer for one. (When I bought them, it was "rare", so I bought 3 shipped from Rogue. If I'd only known how readily I could find it on shelves if I'd waited. )

I was told that if you pair it with a cinnamon roll, it's pretty good.

I don't know if I could crack another one to even try that. If one was being opened to cook with, I might sneak a bit with some cinnamon roll, but can't see cracking one open and then having to finish it. (When I opened the first one, there were 3 of us to split the bomber and that was more than enough for each of us.)
