Default Rogue's Hazelnut Brown Nectar

I had a bottle of this tonight. It's my second time drinking it. I gotta say... I love this stuff! It might just be my German background, and I do a lot of German style baking during the holidays. 9 out of 10 of my recipes have hazelnuts in them. I even go as far as to pre-order high quality hazelnuts online every year. Needless to say, I like hazelnuts!
I'm thinking I really need to brew something like this!

Cheers!

Wait, do you really like Hazelnuts or are you just saying that because you haven't actually convinced any of us... one more time and maybe I'll believe you.

I was already looking at some hazelnut extract online last week. Now I'm quite sure I want to brew something like this, so I'll be ordering the extract soon!

One of my favorite "flavored" brown ales. I've brewed a few clones of it myself but none have quite compared to the Rogue offering. Ariza*Poet you might wanna check out Sam Adams Hazelnut Brown. It's a lot less sweet and has a much more mellow nut flavor. Not my cup of tea...err beer, but you might like it.

I actually picked it up for a friend, yet never tried it myself. I see it fairly often too. If I can, I'll pick some up next time I'm out. Or when I find it next. Heard too many good things to have passed it up for this long.

I ended up brewing a hazelnut stout recently. I used a hazelnut extract that I bought. It was supposed to be enough for a 5 gallon batch of beer, but I decided to use only half for my 5 gallon batch. I wanted the hazelnut to be a little more subtle. It turns out I should have used way less, even still! The hazelnut flavor is very overpowering. It's almost undrinkable. I hate to say it, but I think it might have even turned me off to the Rogue's! I'm going to age it for a good long time and see if it becomes better. If not, it might be reserved as an ingredient for baked goods...
