My new chocolate malted porter tasted familiar last night and then it hit me.... The dry chocolate notes was reminiscent of the 1554. The hops was a lil more bitter, I used styrian golding ones, but the dry chocolate finish is definitely there.
First time I had a 1554 was at Arapahoe Basin, CO after a day's worth of skiing. I still maintain that particular beer was one of the 5 best beers I've ever had.
1554 is great in a nice warm house while watching snow pile up through the window.

Since you weren't to far, have you toured the brewery?
1554 has been one of my favorites for several years now however I have been trying so many new beers I kind of forgot about it thanks for the reminder.I will have one before the week is over
