Default Jolly Pumpkin beers

For those looking to try some sour/funk beers, Jolly Pumpkin is fairly well distributed. They use a lot of Brett, so get the funkiness, and also have some with Pedio/Lacto to get the sourness. For you homebrewers, the yeast dregs can be used and are very active in my experience. I have a couple fermenters going with them now, and will have another going soon with the dregs from this Bam Noire. My favorite regular offering by them is La Roja, and I would recommend it to anyone.

One time I tried a Madrugada Obscura and I was far from impressed. Maybe I just wasn't ready for it/sours, but it definitely didn't make me want to run out and try another.

Madrugada is my least favorite Jolly Pumpkin. Sour and roast just don't blend well IMO. Any of the test are good. Especially La Roja and Biere de Mars.

If/when I branch out, I will stay away from Madrugada and look at La Roja or something else. Thanks... good to know that I may not be completely off my rocker... at least about THAT.

La Roja is my favorite from Jolly Pumpkin. I can't recall all the brews I have tried from them... Just La Roja, Bam Noire, and Bam Noel. All were very good, but I enjoyed the clean, refreshing subtlety of La Roja.
