Default Henry Weinhard's Private Reserve Northwest Lager

Got this at the local Kroger store for $6.99 for a six pack. They had the choice of 3 different styles - the one here, the amber, and a wheat ale. After having bad experiences with Boulevards Wheat beer and rather bored with ambers, I decided on the lager. I've had Weinhard's root beer and cream soda and both were very rich and creamy. I was only able to get those out West on vacation.
I found the lager to be very bland, typical of a commercial lager in the vein of a Coors Original or a PBR. I was terribly disappointed in the flavor. I will mark it down as a learning experience.

It must be a Kroger thing. The Kroger near me in Western Tennessee has been carrying a number of Henry W's brews. I picked up some Heny Weinhard Woodland Pass I.P.A. a few weeks ago. It was on the shelf warm. It was really a pretty unremarkable I.P.A. I doubt that I'll purchase again.

Hmmm, that sucks. Thanks for the heads up though, going by how tasty their root beer is, I'd've been willing to try a few of their beers.

It was unique for a lager, but not one I would recommend!
