Default North Country Brewing Co. Slippery Rock, PA

This is a fabulous place, even if it is stuck off in the middle of nowhere. Generally, very good (and sometimes quite adventurous) brew. This isn't a HUGE location but it's not tiny, either. Always a wait. I've waited 45 min or so both times I've gone so far, but the location overflows with character. The brew kettles are situated in the old morgue. Northwoods style wood abounds, with branches and such used to make rails, and even the door to the restrooms are carved. Lots of attention to detail, though it's far from stuffy. These guys have a sense of humor.

Dishes that I've tried there include their crabby haddock, which was a lump crab encrusted filet of haddock (very good), and their "farm to fork" burger, which you can get any way you choose...even if it's not medium. The first time that we went, their beer cheese dip was made with their IPA, and it was FANTASTIC. However, the last time we were there, they were out of the IPA. So, I think they ran out before making the beer cheese dip, and the recipe suffered somewhat. Though, it was still delicious.

Reasonably priced, I've gotta drive 70 miles round trip to go there, and will still go every chance I get.

I've heard a number of people say that they enjoyed going there. Even people who don't normally enjoy craft beer. I'm definitely going to have to go there! Thanks for the review.

On my last trip to Pittsburgh, I plugged in the coordinates on the way home and stopped in here. Awesome place! Even though it was a Friday night, it was early enough that it was still crowded from after-dinner, but not swamped from the Friday night crowd. We got a quick 2top up front, right under the board listing the taps. Had a couple brews and an appetizer (some DELICIOUS fries covered in gravy, bacon, and cheese, if I recall correctly). I remember I had a stout and something else.

I've been meaning to stop back, just haven't been out that way again. May have to just go specifically for that. (Like Hawkyfan99, it's probably at least a 70 mile round trip to get there, so it's not an every week kind of thing.)

No idea for what nefarious purposes they'll be using this, but North Country just posted this picture:

NC has some of the best food around, too. Can't beat a good cask ale and killer food.

The only thing that I've had there that was a miss wasn't even REALLY a miss. Their beer cheese wasn't as good the time that I went and they were out of their IPA. Still good, though. Their pub pretzels are quite good, and the horseradish mustard dip will clear your sinuses on their worst day.

Just reading this has told me that I need to see if I can get there next weekend.
