Default The Beer Forum Metal Thread

I know that a ton of beer geeks and brewers also dabble in the Black Arts; heavy metal. I figure it's about time that we had a thread in which to share what's new in our collective metal collections and our personal favorites.

I've been a fan of metal since I was around nine and first heard the Master of Puppets album. Grew up on bands like Slayer, Carcass, Entombed, Megadeth, and later Opeth, Amon Amarth, Nile, Kataklysm, SYL, Bloodbath and countless others. My favorite genres are probably death, blackened death, doom and grind, although I'm also a big fan of more ambient/spacey progressive/post metal.

A thread where we can post what we're listening too, what we love and what'd new in our local scenes is a must.

This is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands

And this is a local act here in Mpls. Very good folk influenced black metal, I've been listening to them a lot lately.

What are you guys listening to?

No need to wait man, I'm watching MNF at the moment, no music. Just post what you love, or whatever. Over on HBT we post new and interesting things to keep everyone posted. Local/regionals too, lots of the best aren't always the best known.

The only CD in my car at the moment..... I really need to swap the system out of my dead car (threw a rod in late August, still swappin' mods over to my "new" one), I hate having the single CD going. Everything I own is on mp3. None the less, I'm really digging the new album by Katatonia.

And these guys are one of my faves. Going to see them with Devin Townsend in January!

Been a metal fan since I was 12. Started listening to Metallica and it just grew from there. I really got into the hardcore scene in college, the scene in Albany/Troy area of NY was awesome in those days.

I like many different genres of music, and am constantly flipping through the iPod each day...but Metal has always been special to me. True metal heads know what I mean...

Not sure if this is my favorite metal song but damn is it good. Kind of "generic" I suppose but the video is fantastic.
